This is one of the best festivals Alicante has to offer. Colour, powder and fire are the mainstays of a celebration in which the music literally drowns you. Although every day offers something memorable, the most outstanding events are the flower-offering to the Virgen del Remedio, the firecracker contests, known as mascletąs, the street parades, the bull fights and, of course, the cardboard and wooden statues and monuments whose inevitable fate it is to be burnt on the last night.
