Costa Blanca Travel Guide
The South Costa Blanca region of Spain is
a popular tourist destination, particularly for British and German tourists.
Sandy beaches, lovely weather, and friendly surroundings make it the choice
of many for a summer or year-round retreat. The Southern Costa Blanca region
covers the area between Alicante and Pilar de Horadada.
Visitors to the South Costa Blanca region will find it quite
easy to navigate. Access to the area is available by car, train, or plane, and
the Alicante airport services the region. Car rental services are economical
and widely available if you plan to explore the area, or bus service is available
to the Alicante train station to allow you to travel around the region by train.
Taxis to the train station are also available if you would prefer to avoid the
bus trip and are not hiring a car rental for your stay. You will find excellent
tourist facilities, including hotels, vacation rentals for longer stays, and
car rental services. In the cities, English is commonly spoken, making this
a convenient destination for English speaking visitors.
Cities of note in the Costa Blanca South area include Alicante,
Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura, and Pilar de Horadada; however, many smaller
beach towns are also popular vacation destinations. The entire region is characterized
by lovely, well-maintained sandy beaches, great seafood, good tourist accommodations,
and an energetic nightlife. The climate makes it lovely for vacations at any
time of the year. Water sports of all types, fishing, shopping, golf, and more
are accessible in the region, as well.
Alicante is known for many historic buildings, a nice art museum,
a lovely harbour, and great shopping. It is the starting point for many side
trips in the area, and visitors will certainly enjoy this more urban side of
Costa Blanca. Alicante is a particularly beautiful city, surrounded by the mountains
on one side and the sea on the other. Alicante is also home to several fine
beaches, ranging from secluded to urban, so visitors will be sure to find one
suited to their tastes.
Torrevieja is famous for its role in salt production, but is
a lovely place to spend a vacation with charming outdoor markets and a wonderful
harbour and beaches. Torrevieja has a bustling nightlife and like other cities
in the area, it, too, is particularly popular among British visitors.
Guardamar del Segura is an interesting town, largely because
of its desert environment. Camel rides are available for interested visitors,
and the dunes are particularly beautiful. The city is also home to lovely parks,
fine beaches, and particularly good boating and water sport areas. Sand artists
often work on the local beaches.
The city of Pilar de Horadada is at the southern tip of the
Costa Blanca region. Pilar de Horadada boasts a full five kilometers of beach
for interested visitors. Pilar de Horadada is another fine destination for history
buffs, as the area is home to some fine Roman ruins because of its placement
between two major cities, Illici and Carthago Nova, during the time of the Romans.
The South Costa Blanca region of Spain has a lot to offer.
Visitors who enjoy a more serious outing will find interesting historical sites,
good museums, and a peaceful atmosphere. The beaches of Costa Blanca South are
particularly beautiful with calm waters and clean, soft sand. Those looking
for lively nights during their vacation will find that the traditional hours
of Spanish life, combined with the active nightclubs in the region, will allow
them to dance the night away. Costa Blanca may be an ideal spot for your holiday
this year, regardless of whether you are looking for a quiet getaway or the
party of a lifetime. |
